On 1 April 2007, at around 10:30pm, guards of the Tata Motor Car factory (hereinafter, “the
attackers”) attacked Saha as he was returning home from work. The attackers beat Saha with
their fists. Saha was struck to the ground, and the attackers forcibly snatched Rs. 5000 from
him.
On the same day, the attackers also attacked Pakira’s house armed with sticks, bricks, axes,
and other weapons. Pakira’s wife was seriously injured. The attackers ransacked Pakira’s
poultry farm causing damage of roughly Rs. 3500.

On 2 April 2007, Saha lodged a FIR with the Singur PS. Pakira also lodged a FIR. However, the
police have not initiated any investigations.
On the same day, the attackers lodged their own complaint with the Singur PS against Pakira.
Specifically, they claimed, among other things, that Pakira was involved in an illegal riot, was
armed with a deadly weapon, caused grievous hurt, and partook in criminal intimidation. Under
continuous pressure and threats from the Singur PS, Pakira surrendered himself to
Chandannagar Court.
