Since 2004, the poor people of 51/1A Satish Mukherjee Road area have been victimized by
Pradip Saha. He regularly enters their houses and physically abuses the women. Pradip
Saha and his companions have beaten local villagers.
Several times, the victims have had to go to the General Hospital and to doctors for treatment.
They also repeatedly went to Tollygunge PS to lodge complaints and several General Diary
entries (No. 1278, dated 19/11/2006; No. 3039, dated 31/03/07; No. 910, dated 10/05/07; No.
528, dated 06/06/07).
However, aided by police inaction, Pradip Saha and his companions increased their activities.
On 28 September 2006, the victims sent a written complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of
Police.
On 4 October 2006, the victims sent complaints to the Chief Minister of West Bengal as well as
to several administrative officials. No action was taken.
On 19 November 2006, the police registered an FIR against Pradip Saha and his companions
u/s 341/ 323/ 114 IPC (causing hurt, wrongful confinement etc.).
On 21 February 2007, after news was published in the daily Ananda Bazar Patrika that the
police collude with Kumar and Pradip Saha, OC Asim Ghosh of Tollygunge PS was suspended.
