With the help of MASUM, all arrestees were released under Personal Released Bonds after a
short period of time. However, the police registered fresh cases because the arrestees protested
against the atrocious action of police.
On 13 July 2007, when the fact finding team asked IC Sasanko Sekhor Chkraborty about the
newly registered cases, he replied that he only followed his superior’s order in registering the
cases.
West Bengal
The SDO ordered the release of all arrestees except Debashish Biswas, who was charged with
shouting inside the Hospital area and trying to organise an attack of the SDO’s car. A case was
registered against him u/s 448, 353, 186, 324, 326, 354, 427, 307, 341, 34 IPC (criminal
