The miscreants allegedly consulted with ASI Majhi at Liluah PS. When the Mallick family later<br />

went to Liluah PS to file a complaint, the police would not register it.<br />

At around 7.00pm, an officer from Liluah PS came to the Mallick family grocery shop and seized<br />

their goods.<br />

The Mallick family has complained to other authorities, but no action has been taken. Meanwhile,<br />

the miscreants have threatened the lives of the Mallick family members and forcefully taken<br />

possession of a portion of their land.<br />

Case Details:<br />

Victim Pradip Karmakar lived with his parents in Parashpur village, Murshidabad District.<br />

However, no one currently lives in the village because of land erosion.<br />

When their land eroded, Karmakar and his family moved onto someone else’s land without<br />

persmission in order to save money.. When Karmakar saved enough money, he bought a<br />

piece of land in Muradpur village, Murshidabad District.<br />

On 24 May 2006, Karmakar made preparations to build a house. However, villagers from the<br />

Taltali village, Murshidabad District obstructed the construction, destroyed the building materials,<br />

and threatened to kill Karmakar.<br />

Karmakar attempted to lodge a complaint with the Jalangi PS. The police initially did nothing.<br />

After repeated requests from Karmakar, the police eventually filed a complaint (GDE No. 1573,<br />

dated 27/07/06), but did not take any subsequent action.<br />

Since the incident occurred, Karmakar and his family members have been living in very poor<br />

conditions.
