Babar Ali also slaughtered around fifteen pairs of cows with some of his companions. Annual Report on Torture 2007 On 8 th April 2007 at around 12.30am, a BSF officer from Out Post No. 2 shot Babar Ali from behind. Babar Ali fell down on the ground and died on the spot. His companions fled. Soon, some BSF personnel from Out Post Nos. 1 and 2 put nine pairs of cows and a blunt weapon just beside Babar Ali’s body in order to fabricate a cause for his death.
The next day at around 10.30am, Babar Ali’s uncle Taijul Islam Tohidul Islam came to the Raninagar PS to lodge a complaint, but OC Sunayan Basu refused to register their complaint, instead behaving rudely to them and threatening them. On 2 May 2007, Taijul Islam and Tohidul Islam lodged a complaint with the SP of Murshidabad. According to information received by MASUM, Babar Ali’s dead body was sent for a postmortem examination, but no complaint was lodged against the BSF personnel who were involved in his death.
