On 27 November 2006, believing the treatment at the Hospital to be inadequate, Parimal Sen<br />

requested the Hospital Authority to transfer Dipak Dutta to the Calcutta Heart Clinic and Hospital. At<br />

around 1.00pm, Dipak Dutta was transferred.<br />

On 4 December 2006, Dipak Dutta was discharged.<br />

On 12 May 2007 at around 9.30am, Khan of Chanditala PS served Dipak Dutta with a summons<br />

to appear before the Chinshura court at 10.00am on 16 May 2007. The Chinshura police had<br />

initiated a case against Dipak Dutta dated 23.11.06 u/s 147/149/186/323/332/353/337 IPC and<br />

34(A) Police Act.<br />

On 16 May 2007 at 10.00am, Dipak Dutta reached the court in a Rotary Club ambulance. The<br />

Chief Judicial Magistrate of Chinsura, Hooghly ordered him to be released on bail before directing<br />

Dipak Dutta to appear in court again on 22 August 2007.<br />

Dipak Dutta remains partially crippled, and can only move with the help of a walking stick. The<br />

doctors of the Calcutta Heart Clinic and Hospital have recommended a year’s treatment, but<br />

Dipak Dutta has already spent Rs. 12,000 on his treatment and cannot afford more.<br />

ASI Nath of Chanditala PS has stated that the police have followed their superiors’ orders, and<br />

that if Dipak Dutta wanted to initiate any proceedings against the police, then no witnesses would<br />

be found.<br />

Victim Dipali Chakraborty, age 22, has two daughters. Victim Prova Bose, age 21, has a one<br />

On 7 October 2006, ASIs Asish Dolui and Sumit Mondal entered Dipali Chakraborty’s house in<br />
