One of her neighbours is Safikul Saikh. Safikul Saikh kidnapped Bedana Khatun after giving her false news of an accident involving her father, Imaruddin Mondal. He eloped with her to Berhampore and forced her to marry him. After some time, Safikul Saikh took Bedana Khatun to Kolkata and then to Ludhiana. In this time, Safikul Saikh and his friends raped Bedana Khatun brutally and kept her captive. On 27 August 2006, Imaruddin Mondal lodged a missing diary at Domkal PS. He repeatedly requested action from the officers at Domkal PS, but they did not act. SI Md. Sakhauddin ignored and threatened Imaruddin Mondal. Eventually, Bedana Khatun was able to get a message to Imaruddin Mondal about her captivity. On 4 September 2006, Imaruddin Mondal successfully lodged a complaint at Domkal PS against Safikul Saikh and his friends u/s 363/366 IPC (kidnapping). On 26 September 2006, Imaruddin Mondal finally succeeded in procuring Bedana Khatun’s rescue with the help of the Special Superintendent of Police, CID West Bengal. On 27 September 2006 at 3.00am, SI Md. Sakhauddin took Bedana Khatun to the Domkal PS and produced her in court. She gave statements and received a medial check-up. At 6.00am, Safikul Saikh and others tried to kidnap Bedana Khatun, but failed and fled. Bedana Khatun and her tutor went to the Domkal PS with other students, but SI Md. Sakhauddin insulted them and refused to register a complaint. Imaruddin Mondal tried to lodge a complaint, but PI Jayantababu, SI Md. Sakhauddin, and SI Premasish Chattaraj treated them shabbily and refused to register a case. Si Md. Sakhauddin regularly visits Safikul Saikh’s house and spends social time with him, which worries Bedana Khatun and her family.

He works as an agent for a life insurance company. Victim Sunil Mondal resides at Ramnarayanpara village, Jalangi PS. On 4 March 2007, some goons recently arrived from Bangladesh tried to take over the field where Bibrata Sarkar’s brother Subrata Sarkar cultivated brinjal. On 5 March 2007, Subrata Sarkar returned to his field to find that the goons had stolen brinjal plants from three khatas of his land. Subrata Sarkar filed a charge against one of the goons, Paritosh Sarkar. Paritosh Sarkar responded by scuffling with Subrata Sarkar and Bibrata Sarkar. Both parties lodged complaints against the other at Jalangi PS. On 18 April 2007 at 3.30pm, the goons met Bibrata Sarkar while he was returning home with victim Sunil Mondal after collecting premiums from some clients. The goons beat Bibrata Sarkar with iron rods and wooden sticks until he was senseless and then stole Rs. 24,800 from him. Bibrata Sarkar and Sunil Mondal were rescued by passers-by once the goons left. Bibrata Sarkar went to the Jalangi PS to lodge a complaint, but SI Somnath Sinha did not register an FIR, instead sending Bibrata Sarkar to Sadikhan’s Dearh Rural Hospital for treatment. At 7.30pm, Bibrata Sarkar’s brother Subrata Sarkar registered a complaint on his behalf. The police filed an FIR but did not give Subrata Sarkar a copy. SIs Utpal Das and Swapan Saha investigated the case, but colluded with the goons and did not take action against them. The police recovered none of Bibrata Sarkar’s money. On 19 April 2007, Bibrata Sarkar was discharged from the Hospital. On 30 April 2007, Bibrata Sarkar lodged a written complaint with the Superintendent of Police (Berhampore, Murshidabad).
