Accordingly, the police interrogated Chakrabarty in the presence of Humayun Kabir and Rajib Kumar at the CID Office, Bhabani Bhaban, Kolkata. During the interrogation, the officers punched Chakrabarty. Next day, the victims got information that, Police of the Barasat PS started a specific police case against the journalists under sections 448/353/186/324/427/307/341/34 of IPC for committing offences of hours-trespass, assault to deter public servant from discharge of his duty, obstructing public servant in discharge of public function, voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, assault or criminal force to women with intent or outrage her modesty, mischief , attempt to murder, wrongful restraint etc. The allegations were serious and the offences were non-bail able. After two days the victims prayed for anticipatory bail at Barasat District Court. The Court asked case details from Barasat PS, but the police were unable to submit it. So the anticipatory bail petition filed by the journalists was granted by the Court. The police even falsely implicated the person like Ashish Nandi of a Bengali News Channel, Tara Bangla, was not at all present at the time of incident.
