On 1 January 2006, at 8.00pm, B.S.F. officers apprehended Saifuddin as he was traveling to his<br />

farm land to work. The B.S.F. officers took Saifuddun to his land and beat him with their batons,<br />

causing injuries all over body.<br />

Then, the B.S.F. officers pinned Saifuddin to the ground and shot him at point blank range with a<br />

machine gun. Saifuddin was killed instantly. After killing Saifuddin, the B.S.F. officers went to the<br />

nearest B.S.F. camp and collected smuggled items which they had seized in another incident.<br />

The B.S.F. officers intended to falsely claim that those items had actually been seized from<br />

Saffuidin.<br />

The B.S.F. officers took Saffuidin’s body and the seized items to the Raninagar PS. The B.S.F.<br />

officers then lodged a false complaint against Saffuidin, and also started a case of unnatural death.<br />

On 3 June 2006, at 4:00pm, Saffuidin’s wife lodged a written complaint with the Raninagar PS.<br />

The Raninagar PS has taken no subsequent action.<br />

attackers”).<br />

The attackers had planned on killing Santosh Sardar, a supporter of the Congress party and a<br />

member of the Nikarihata Panchayat. Santosh was not at his home when the attackers<br />

arrived.<br />

However, the attackers failed so they next pursued Santosh’s brother, Sunil Sardar, who they<br />

chased to the front of Samir Sardar’s house. The attackers entered Samir’s house, beat him,<br />

and shot and killed him with 35 rounds of bullets. The attackers also beat Samir’s blind father.
