Case Details:
On 13 th September 2007, Intaj Seikh cut off the crops in the field of Ajbar Ali, which gave rise to
a dispute. During an incident between the parties, two sons of Intaj Seikh, Alamgir Seikh and
Hapijul Seikh, beat Ajbar with a roller, fracturing his hand. Ajbar lodged a complaint regarding
this at Raninagar PS; but no inquiry followed.

Case Details:
On 2 nd November 2007, there was a quarrel between Rafikul Seikh and Jinarul Seikh. Jinarul
attacked Rafikul with a knife. Jinarul was injured when Rafikul’s relatives intervened in the fight.
Both men were taken to the hospital where Rafikul died.
On 3 rd November 2007, victim Bebi Nazmin Bewa, Rafikul’s wife, attempted to lodge a complaint
against Jinarul in the Raninagar Police Station. Duty Officer Purna Chandra Ghosh received the
complaint but did not issue a case number. Several times Bebi Nazmin Bewa unsuccessfully
tried to obtain a copy of the FIR.
Later, the police revealed there already was a complaint against the Jinarul for other reasons, but
he has not been arrested for Rafikul’s murder. Presently, Jinarul is threatening the victim.
