Case Details:
On 19 August 2007, during the School Board Election of Lochanpur Nityakali High School, there
was a quarrel between the Left and Congress (I) Parties. The Congress (I) Party made a
complaint to SI Imtiaj Khan of Islampur PS, who came and acted in favour of the Left Party. The
Congress (I) Party members started agitating on the road at Becky Bagan Market area; in the
process they too struck back the members of the Left Party and ran away. While escaping, they
flung a country pistol in the bush adjoining the house of victim Bimola Bewa. As a result, the
police doubted Bimola and her younger son Sukbul Seikh. Sukbul, age 18, was a Congress (I)
Party worker.
The police, led by PC Danimul Kuan, began to ransack the house joined by members of the Left
Party. They criminally trespassed into the house of Bimola Bewa, ransacked several household
articles, and broke some of the mud walls. They also insulted the victim.
