Case Details:
At a “Chat Puja,” a pandal was created in the locality of victim Imran Alam. A motor bike besides
the pandal was knocked over and broke some lights. The owner of the bike, Deepak came out
and found Imran Alam and his friends sitting on a cot and suspected them as the culprits. He
lodged a complaint at Titagarh PS against Imran. The police, in search of victim Imran Alam,
went to his house and slapped and verbally abused his parents. On 18 November 2007, the SI
caught Imran. The SI slapped him and threatened him to break his legs and arms.
The victim lodged a complaint to the higher officials to take measures but no measures were
taken.

Victim Kakoli Das worked at the Immortal Power of Yoga Institute as a beauty therapist. Advocate
Bidyut Basu also stayed on the premises.
On 15 th December 2007, Kakoli was taking a rest at the Institution when a lady and a man entered
and asked several questions about yoga. Kakoli was not able to answer them. The lady became
annoyed and insulted Kakoli. She then proceeded to beat Kakoli with her fists.
