Jainagar PS. Biswajit Banerjee informed the police that some of the miscreants were residents
of Diamond Harbour; he repeatedly requested the police to take the complaint. Finally, after
much debate, the police took the complaint and made a General Diary Entry.
On the same day, Biswajit also lodged a complaint at the Jainagar PS. No action was taken.
Instead, the police told Biswajit Banerjee not to disturb them.
The miscreants continued to disturb and to threaten Biswajit Banerjee and his family.
On 4 April 2004, the miscreants kidnapped Biswajit Banerjee, locked him in a shop, and abused
him physically before releasing him.
Biswajit Banerjee fled from Diamond Harbour to Dum Dum.
On 13 June 2004, the miscreants kidnapped one Rampada from Bahura, threatened him with
some firearms, and compelled him to sign a paper. They abused him mentally and physically.
On 7 March 2005, Biswajit Banerjee received information that some persons had stolen everything
from his shop. He also learned the names of the miscreants.
Biswajit Banerjee went to the Diamond Harbour PS and lodged a complaint. The police refused
to initiate any criminal case against the miscreants, even when he told them the names of the
miscreants.
Biswajit Banerjee’s financial condition worsened.
Biswajit Banerjee informed the SDO of Baruipur about what had happened. No action was
taken.
Biswajit Banerjee gave a written complaint to Inspector General Chayan Mukherjee, who
ordered an investigation.
In the meantime, the SDO was transferred, as a result of which he handed over the responsibility
to the SDPO. The SDPO told Biswajit Banerjee not to disturb him as he was very busy.
Biswajit Banerjee again informed the Inspector General.
After some days, SI Tapan Basak called Biswajit Banerjee to the Jainagar PS. Afraid that he
might be murdered, Biswajit Banerjee asked for assurances from the police. The SI then
proposed a meeting at the Baruipur Investigating Centre instead.
Biswajit went to the Investigating Centre, but the SI did not arrive.
