Case Details:
Victim Prakash Singh was a taxi driver. On 3 October 2007, he was in an accident with a police
jeep. The POs asked Prakash for his driver license. Prakash said he would only show his
license to the traffic police. The POs then punched Prakash several times. Prakash demanded
an apology, but the police humiliated him by forcing Prakash to do sit-ups in the presence of the
public.
Prakash lodged a complaint to the Tollygunge PS, but no action was taken. Prakash fears that
he will harassed if he files a case against the police.

On 29 September 2006 at around 2:00am 18-20 Deganga PS male police officers arrived at Dr.
Ahamed’s house. The officers were led Wasef Ali Molla. The officer threw stones at the house,
broke all of the house’s windows, and ultimately broke down the door. The officers severely beat
Dr. Ahamed, and physically searched his wife. Officer-In-Charge Wasef Ali Molla claimed to
have a search warrant but did not produce one. He accused Dr. Ahamed of harboring terrorists,
and his officers ransacked the house. After two hours, the officers took signatures from Dr.
Ahamed and his wife.
