two houses. On 22 nd September 2007, while the victim came out of his house he was attacked<br />
by Mujaha and his family members with iron rods and wooden logs, causing him to fall on the<br />
ground. His brother Salauddin Biswas came to rescue him but he was also attacked. The same<br />
day Allauddin Biswas and his brother went to Sagarpara PHC for treatment and then went to<br />
lodge a complaint at Jalangi Police Station. ASI Ananda Biswas threatened them to compromise<br />
the case or they would be detained in police custody. In fear the victims were forced to compromise<br />
and were detained for four to five hours. On 30 th September 2007, there was a negotiation<br />
meeting at the village where Mujahar refused to compromise; and he also had support from the<br />
party members. Though Allauddin informed the police regarding this they remained silent over<br />
the matter. At present police are trying to hush up the case and both the brothers, Allauddin<br />
Biswas and Salauddin Biswas, are unable to continue their medical treatment owing to poor<br />
economic condition.<br />
On 22.09.2007, at around 6 a.m. perpetrators jointly attacked Alauddin with iron rods and woden<br />
sticks. He was seriously injured and went to Sagarpara Public Health center for medical treatment.<br />
There after he went to Jalangi PS to lodge complaint against those perpetrators with his brother<br />
named Salauddin Biswas. But Mr. Ananda Biswas, ( Assitant Sub Inspector) the duty officer of<br />
the said police station threatened them either to compromise the case or they would be detained<br />
in the police custody.<br />

Narayan Chanra Sil, aged 47 years, lived in Howrah. After his father’s death, the family suffered<br />
in poverty until Narayan’s elder brother Nirmal became a police officer. Then the family started<br />
depending on Nirmal’s income.<br />
When Nirmal got married, he stopped supporting his family. Then Nirmal started preventing<br />
Narayan from entering the family home. On 23 May 2007, Nirmal beat Narayan, seriously<br />
injuring him. Narayan was admitted in the Howrah District Hospital for treatment. On 28 May<br />
2007 he was discharged from the hospital and he returned to his house. When he arrived home,<br />
Nirmal prevented Narayan from entering the house and forced Narayan to sleep on the roof.<br />
Narayan lodged a General Diary no 2206 dated 27 May 2007, however the police took no action.<br />
Nirmal and his wife occupied the house and fraudulently transferred ownership of the property to<br />
Nirmal’s name.<br />
