Subject aims and description<br />
The course aims to consolidate students' advanced ltalian<br />
language knowledge through advanced grammatical<br />
exercises and the study <strong>of</strong> appropriate literary works. The<br />
subject will also develop in students an understanding <strong>of</strong><br />
contemporary Italy through the study <strong>of</strong> ltalian history which<br />
covers the period from the rise <strong>of</strong> Fascism to present day<br />
Italy.<br />
The aim <strong>of</strong> the course is to consolidate and extend the work<br />
begun in semester one.<br />

This is an interdisciplinary subject which examines writers<br />
who have shaped the European consciousness. It provides<br />
students with the opportunity to study influential works in<br />
20th century European literature and through this to gain an<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> some <strong>of</strong> the main intellectual currents in<br />

Through a detailed critical analysis <strong>of</strong> contemporary<br />
literature, students will be able to develop further their<br />

Subject aims and description<br />
This subject is designed to make students familiar with<br />
international trade and the contemporary ltalian business<br />
environment, and to extend appropriate vocabulary and<br />
language skills. The aim is to give students the essential skills<br />
and confidence to do business with ltalian entities. Topics<br />
will include elements <strong>of</strong> international management and<br />
marketing, ltalian political, financial, cultural and economic<br />
structure; and environment, exportlirnport practices, and<br />
linauistics <strong>of</strong> international trade. A student seminar and case<br />
discussion approach will be taken. Teaching and student<br />
participation will be both in English and Italian.<br />
