Hours per week<br />

The course is formally 28 hours per week (4 days,<br />

9am-5pm). In practice, however, the need for access to<br />

rostered productionlstudio facilities usually extends this<br />

period considerably. Students are alerted to the fad that a<br />

high level <strong>of</strong> extra-curricula time is required, particularly<br />

during the production-intensive second semester.<br />

Course resources<br />

<strong>Swinburne</strong> provides an extensive range <strong>of</strong> in-house analogue<br />

and digital production facilities, cinefilm, video, computers,<br />

s<strong>of</strong>tware and post-production equipment and assists with<br />

production costs.<br />

In addition, pr<strong>of</strong>essional industry facilities and resources are<br />

hired as required. Budget expenditure is determined by the<br />

individual student's proposal, subject to departmental<br />

approval. Students also have access to state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art<br />

equipment <strong>of</strong> the National Centre <strong>of</strong> New Media Arts and<br />

Technologies - a joint Victorian Education and Industry<br />

funded project.<br />

Personal resources<br />

Applicants are reminded that this is a production-based<br />

course and that they will be expected to make personal<br />

financial contributions to see their projects to completion.<br />

Access to the following personal production facilities is<br />

highly recommended:<br />

Audio cassette recorderlplayer.<br />

Personal computer and modem (integrated business s<strong>of</strong>tware<br />

eg. MS works).<br />

Video cassette player.<br />

VHS or Hi8 camcorder.<br />

35mm stills camera.<br />
