Career potential<br />
This program recognises the need to educate middle<br />
managers within existing organisations in the management<br />
<strong>of</strong> innwation based on four key skill areas:<br />
marketing aspects <strong>of</strong> innovation management<br />
organisational behavioural aspects <strong>of</strong> innovation<br />
management<br />
financial planning (cash flow projection and<br />
management)<br />
innovation strategy leading to an integrated business<br />
plan.<br />
The program provides a sound theoretical base in all four<br />
areas and the ability to apply that theory to management <strong>of</strong><br />
an innovative pr<strong>of</strong>it centre, new product development,<br />
systems change or other project requiring pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
management <strong>of</strong> activities new to, or different from, the<br />
established activities <strong>of</strong> the firm.<br />
The program is designed for employees <strong>of</strong> organisations who<br />
have been charged with responsibility for creating and<br />
operating a genuinely new venture with high growth<br />
potential. The new venture may challenge existing company<br />
management practices and will require the ability to manage<br />
the innovation process.<br />
The program also prwides for articulation <strong>of</strong> accredited units<br />
into higher level degree programs <strong>of</strong>fered by the School <strong>of</strong><br />
lnnovation and Enterprise,<br />
Admission requirements<br />
Applicants should comply with one <strong>of</strong> the following:<br />
a. There are no prerequisites other than discipline and<br />
commitment by an employee to a task, role or projects<br />
requiring skills in the management <strong>of</strong> innwation. A<br />
tertiary qualification would be an advantage.<br />
b. Applicants may be admitted to the program at the<br />
considered discretion <strong>of</strong> the Dean <strong>of</strong> the Faculty.<br />
The graduate certificate provides the basic entry level for<br />
people seeking careers and qualifications in the<br />
management <strong>of</strong> innovation or it may serve to broaden the<br />
skills <strong>of</strong> managers qualified in other tertiary disciplines.<br />
Duration <strong>of</strong> course<br />
The program is designed to be completed within one<br />
calendar year <strong>of</strong> commencement <strong>of</strong> the first unit.<br />

Units are block taught in a modular structure and the course<br />

Career potential<br />
The program is designed for people interested in the use<br />
and effects <strong>of</strong> training in the innovation process but will be<br />
<strong>of</strong> particular value to employees <strong>of</strong> organisations who have<br />
been charged with the responsibility <strong>of</strong> developing training<br />
interventions to support organisational change.<br />
The courses in the program cover four key aspects <strong>of</strong><br />
training management.<br />
principles and planning <strong>of</strong> training interventions<br />
design and development <strong>of</strong> training programs<br />
innwation and training<br />
administration and evaluation <strong>of</strong> training.<br />
The program provides a sound theoretical base in all four<br />
areas and the major projects and exercises undertaken in the<br />
program will provide the opportunity for participants to<br />
apply their learning to their own or other organisations. A<br />
tangible outcome <strong>of</strong> the program will be some actual<br />
training programs designed and detailed ready for<br />
implementation.<br />

Career potential<br />
The course is designed to prepare pr<strong>of</strong>essionals who, being<br />
more extensively educated in management <strong>of</strong> enterprise and<br />
innovation, are able to take up management positions more<br />
quickly after graduation, become more innovative in their<br />
leadership <strong>of</strong> Australian enterprise, have and achieve<br />
heightened goals, are more able to improve their individual<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essional practices and hence are more likely to<br />
contribute significantly to their work, their pr<strong>of</strong>ession, the<br />
economy and society.<br />
Studies include the environmental and social impacts <strong>of</strong><br />
successful pr<strong>of</strong>essional practice, personal skills such as speaking,<br />
negotiating, communicating, team working and leadership<br />
as well as the more conventional business, financial and<br />
marketing studies.<br />
The course work and the case studies at graduate level<br />
relates management principles and practice particularly to<br />
the technology learnt during an undergraduate course.<br />
