THE AUTHORS
The research for this study on the Gothenburg fire 1998 have been conducted by a team of
researchers from the universities in Örebro and Göteborg under editorship of Larsåke
Larsson and Stig Arne Nohrstedt. They are responsible for the theoretical framework for
the study and the concluding chapter that bring together various empirical findings. The
empirical studies are divided into four parts. The first part concerning the authorities is
written by Stina Bengtsson, Anna Helton, and Larsåke Larsson. The second part is about
the reaction among youth and is written by Ulrika Olausson. The third part concerning the
journalists is written by Liselotte Englund. The fourth part reports a study about the confidence
in authorities among Swedish citizens and immigrants by Ingela Wadbring, Lennart
Weibull, and Jan Sjögren.
Stig Arne Nohrstedt is Professor at the Department of Media and Communication at
Örebro university.
