16. WQ&I: Welder Qualification and Inspection
1.6 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A. General Design Requirements and Conditions for the IXM Distribution piping system:
1. Normal operating pressure at 100 psig, maximum.
2. Normal design pressure of 125 psig.
3. Normal operating temperature at 68 deg F.
4. Normal design temperature at 100 deg F.
5. Normal operating flow rate at 70 gpm, maximum.
6. Fluid properties are the same as deionized water at 68 deg F.
7. Piping Code: ASME B31.3, Normal Service category.
B. Manufacturer Seismic Qualification Certification: Submit certification that IXM Distribution
piping, accessories, and components will withstand seismic forces defined in Section 220548,
Vibration and Seismic Controls for Plumbing Piping and Equipment. Include the following:
1. The term "withstand" means "the unit will remain in place without separation of any parts
from the device when subjected to the seismic forces specified."
2. Basis for Certification: Indicate whether withstand certification is based on actual test of
assembled components or on calculation.
3. All pipe installation isometrics and vendor specific data necessary for pipe stress analysis
(including flange leakage analysis data) shall be supplied by the Seller to the Buyer for
review 30 days prior to scheduled installation date.
1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Interruption of Existing IXM Service(s): Do not interrupt IXM water service to facilities
occupied by Buyer or others unless permitted under the following conditions and then only after
arranging to provide temporary service according to requirements indicated:
1. Notify Buyer no fewer than two days in advance of proposed interruption of IXM water
distribution service(s).
2. Do not proceed with interruption of IXM water distribution service(s) without Buyer's
written permission.
