operator of the German Antarctic Neumayer research station un<strong>der</strong> - then -<br />

call sign DP1POL with 500-700 watts in 2002-20<strong>04</strong>. He will leave Europe in<br />

Dec <strong>2008</strong>, and will work at the new German Antarctic research facility<br />

"Neumayer III" from 2009 til March 2010 again.<br />

Yours truly had miserable St.H. reception yesterday night. Not a peep here<br />

for the entire time span 2000-2344 UT. Log at 2030 UT, only few tiny<br />

carriers on 25 mb visible, to realize:<br />

11520 USA WEWN English, S=0-1 very tiny<br />

11565 USA YFR carrier only, on other days German progr.<br />

11605 RRW DW Kigali, poor German program noted, ... S=5-6<br />

11655 MDG RNW English, no reception realized of this 250 kW power station.<br />

11665 USA YFR tiny weak, only carrier traced, to SoAM target though.<br />

11735.00even TZA Zanzibar, S=0-1<br />

11775 CVI-CVC Juelich. rest of the ground wave ? -- not recognized.<br />

11845 AFS AWR Meyerton, carrier only traced.<br />

11865 CAN Arabic of RCI Sackville, S=1-2 weak, but readable.<br />

11940 ESP carrier of REE Madrid,could trace Spanish language.<br />

11975 IBB Botswana, VOA En, but carrier only traced.<br />

11990 KWT Radio Kuwait, carrier only traced.<br />

12000 CUB carrier, supposed to be RHC La Habana, // 11750 ?<br />

Not a peep of '25 mb top dog' WWCR 12160 here in Europe tonight, not to<br />

mention of missing 250 kilowatt beasts at Madagascar, Botswana, Sao Tome<br />

and Ascension.<br />

At 2105 UT the 25 mb was 'dead as a dodo'.<br />

At 2220 UT the 25 mb recovered from dead. Best signal<br />

12010 AUS RA A<strong>BC</strong> via Darwin, 250 kW station of CVI, English program.<br />

2220 UT, S=7, 317 degr antenna via South Asia, India.<br />

11620 IND AIR opened morning sce to EaAS at 2230 UT.<br />

11750 and 12000 very likely CUB - RHC La Habana<br />

11940 ESP REE Madrid, Spanish sce, but S=1-2 (of 9) only.<br />

The two only African stations at 2225 UT<br />

11975 MLI CRI Bamako fair at S=2-3 level, 2130-2400 UT.<br />

and AF1 from Gabon 9580 S=6-7, flutter fading.<br />

the guys in Brazil are only 2000 miles away, and 5 hrs ahead on<br />

greyline/sunshine area, compared to winterly Europe.<br />
