TX Site name is: Popua (Coordinates are GE). MW antenna is easily seen<br />

nearby. The SW antenna was within the MW ant grounds close by. I<br />

un<strong>der</strong>stand that another Television station is planned for the T<strong>BC</strong> in the<br />

not too distant future.<br />

TURKEY Direct comment in Turkish of EURO <strong>2008</strong> soccer playmatch between<br />

Croatia and Turkey was heard on LW 162 and 180, // MW 927 and 1017 kHz, //<br />

FM 94.4 and 95.6 MHz. Another mx prgr was at the same time 2030 UTC on LW<br />

225, // MW 558, 630, 702, 954 and 891 kHz with nx at 2100 hrs. No signal<br />

was on LW 243 and MW 765 checked at 2030-2100 UT. All reported in Varna<br />

during the short visit there on June 19-20.<br />

U.K. B<strong>BC</strong> Romanian langauge service to close.<br />

B<strong>BC</strong> Romanian language service to close June 25th, <strong>2008</strong> - 15:56 UTC by Andy<br />

B<strong>BC</strong> World Service is to close its Romanian language service. The news and<br />

current affairs service is proposing to cease broadcasting on 1 August<br />

<strong>2008</strong> after 68 years of broadcasting. B<strong>BC</strong> Romanian broadcasts for almost<br />

four hours a day on radio and also runs a complementary website. It is the<br />

last of the B<strong>BC</strong>'s non-English language services specifically aimed at<br />

countries that are EU member states.<br />

The change follows a review of B<strong>BC</strong> World Service's language service<br />

portfolio after its overall funding levels, for the three-year funding
