The MW mast is still there (to the south), but the SW antennas must have
been removed recently. They were still visible in late Dec 2006 when
aproaching Miri airport by plane.

Sibu is also now in high resolution. MW at 02 17 48 N 111 51 39 E, but
where's the SW site???

[SABAH] RTM Kota Kinabalu. Decided to have another look at the Radio
Television Malaysia - Sabah presumed SW site location at:
06 10 48 N 116 11 20 E
Does anyone know when last SW broadcasts were heard from this broadcaster
on SW? The site sure looks as though it was a former site of something
with antennas. The date of the GE image is: August 16th, 2005. Just
wondering if last broadcasts were heard prior to that time??

The separate 1476 directional installation at Kota Kinabalu (Tuaran),
Sabah MW 1475, 4-mast array at
06 09 56.82 N 116 09 58.88 E
looks like so "lonesome". Was it once erected by some separate
intelligence organization to counter action some muslim acts from southern
Philippine / Zulu Sea into Sabah? Used for Suara Malaysia RTM Tagalog at
1030-1300 UT.

History - Last item of 2004y: RTM Sabah is still active on 5980v in local
afternoons and evenings but was apparently off air for a day on Monday 22
March.

Comment of 2002y:
The listed domestic SW freqs of RTM West MLA are all active. An engineer
at the Kajang Txing Station, just South-East of Kuala Lumpur, told me that
the poorly performing tx on 5965 is a very old 5 kW standby unit. It will
be replaced by a 100 kW tx - now used on 15295 - after the installation of
a new 250 kW Thomcast tx for the 19 mb outlet, mainly intended for the bcs
in Arabic. Also a new TCI antenna system (type HRS-441) is being
installed. This project should be completed in Oct. [2002].
RTM Sarawak's listed SW freqs are all active. Acc to the Director of
Bcing, the Sibu tx, which used to operate on 5005, cannot be repaired as
the necessary parts are no longer available. The MW network, the still
expanding FM-network and the recently upgraded SW facilities at Kuching
appear to provide adequate coverage. With Miri having left SW already a
couple of years ago, the remaining Sibu tx on 6050 is likely to continue
till it breaks down, so get it while you can!
Spare parts for the RTM Sabah tx, which used to operate on 4970, are no
longer available either. As MW & FM coverage are considered adequate, it
may never be reactivated. However, the tx on 5980 will continue as long as
it lasts. The current SW schedule of the progrmes in En and minority langs
is as follows: En 0330-0730 (news at 0500), Kadazan 0730-1000, Bajau 1000-
1200, Dusun 1200-1315 and Murut 1315-1330.
