BC-DX 841 04 Jan 2008 Private Verwendung der Meldun

English under very heavy digital noise on 6335 kHz. Seems like end of news
with ID "Voice of ...". Into non stop easy English pop songs. Some brief
announcements but mainly music. At 1630 UT "News in brief". Only couple of
items, mostly mentioning Baghdad and Iraq. Back to music. Ending English
around 1657 UT with two ID's, which sounded like "Voice of Kurdistan".
After that into possibly Kurdish with ID "Dengi Kurdistan". Still
continues at 1725 UT as writing this. A new name for VO Iraqi Kurdistan or
maybe a "Foreign Service" using VO Kurdistan name?

6335 VO Kurdistan in English
Jari, When I verified Voice of Iraqi Kurdistan last year through the
Kurdistan Democratic Party-Iraq Washington, DC office, they referred to
the station as "Radio station VOK (Voice of Kurdistan)." When I wrote back
asking about the name, I did not receive a reply. Alex Atroushi
mentioned: "The radio was and is still running by the
KDP. The Program of "VOK" consists of News, opinion of KDP, Kurdish
culture and music."
Perhaps they have been using the name Voice of Kurdistan for a long time?

Hi Rich. Yes maybe they dropped the word from the station name
already some time ago. I haven't been listening their id on 6335 kHz for
some time. But I recall hearing them mention "Denge Kurdistana Iraka"
earlier on 6335 and before that on 6340 kHz. Anyway, today 14 Jan they
signed on couple of minutes before 1600 with music and then started
English. So, English seems to be 1600-1700 roughly and then local
language(s). Yesterday they signed off at 1900 UT.
Alex seems to reply with standard e-mail to reports. I asked him the
schedule of English programs but only received the same worded e-mail you
did.

Guten Morgen Rudolf, das - mit English - hoere ich zum ersten Mal. Bisher
nur immer Kurdish/Arabisch gelistet auf 6335 kHz. Muss ich mal checken.

ITALY 846 RAI DRM on Rome 846 kHz. Ciao, according to Italian DXer &
Ham Andrea Borgnino in next days RAI will start broadcasting in DRM on 846
kHz (Santa Palomba TX). The power could be 75 kW. So far RAI is using DRM
24 hrs on 693 kHz. So RAI will have two MW channels in DRM.
