but odd 11690.06 and accompanied BUZZ interference tone. Lots of other 25<br />

mb frequencies are free at this time slot. Very bad selection for TRT's<br />

Macedonian audience too.<br />

UKRAINE Whether we want it or not, but the shortwave international<br />

broadcasting is gradually reducing.<br />

The B<strong>BC</strong> World Service has closed shortwave transmissions to Europe on the<br />

18th of February <strong>2008</strong>, which affected the transmissions to southern<br />

Europe. But here in Ukraine B<strong>BC</strong> English service is heard well as before on<br />

its Near and Middle East transmissions, as well as on its West Russian<br />

transmissions. It seems that B<strong>BC</strong> doesn't consi<strong>der</strong> Western Russia as<br />

European territory.<br />

I remind you that B<strong>BC</strong> mediumwave relay stations are located also in<br />

Kharkiv and Kyiv. For example, B<strong>BC</strong> is heard in Kyiv on 594 kHz with<br />

English, Ukrainian and Russian programmes on weekday mornings through<br />

evenings. It is interesting to note that the north-western part of<br />

shortwave and mediumwave transmitter site in Brovary near Kyiv, where the
