USA 15590 WRNO - tuned in at 1938 July 18 to hear strong open carrier
with slight whine, then tone test faded up. Level increased briefly before
1944 and then cut off at 1945; 1946 back on with open carrier, 1947 tone
fading up and down again. Cut off again at 1950*. So far no anmts or IDs.
It's off-fqy, more like 15590.4. If current registrations are to be
believed, this is WRNO, on the air finally after years and years of
delays, under new ownership as 15590 is for it in A-08 since KTBN went
dark.
(Glenn Hauser-OK-USA, dxld July 18)
After seven years I am happy to confirm that WRNO is back on the air.
Right now they are putting the xmtr through its final adjustments and
tuning. During next week the required testing should be completed and the
FCC Form 310 will be filed. Regular prgmng is planned to begin on Aug 1.
They plan to use 7505 at night and 15590 by day. But they may have a very
limited b/c stn for a while.
(George Jacobs-USA to Glenn Hauser-OK-USA, dxld July 19)
Possible TX test on 15590 1400-0100 UT time span, also at other times
7355/7505 2300-1600 UT. (wb)
Strong signal on 15590 playing mx from "Buena Vista Social Club" until
0030* July 20.
(Jerry Berg-MA-USA, DXplorer July 19/20)
Noted here in Washington, DC with E10 portable with very nice signal from
2350 UT on July 19, C&W mx until the good Latin stuff at 0000 UT. No
annmts.
(Rich D'Angelo-DC-USA, DXplorer July 19)
WRNO New Orleans, LA Presumed. 7505.000 kc. 2230-2305 UT on July 19. SIO
444. No ID or talk, continuous C&W music by George Strait, poor audio
quality, abrupt S/O[ff].
(Thomas Giella-FL-USA KN4LF, dxld July 20)
Glenn: Did WRNO move the transmitter antenna location???? I visited the
old site a few years ago and the main lobe was pointed into a BIG
subdivision!!!! LESS THAN 100 feet.
(David Frantz-TN-USA WWRB, dxld July 19)
Dan, Got this inquiry from Dave Frantz at WWRB. I haven't heard of any
change, and my impression is that it is the same site as before. What say
you? Tnx for the monitoring reports.
