spur from 6090 UT with the usual religious programming.<br />

George McClintock, engineer for Caribbean Beacon, who knows the<br />

transmitter intimately, says he really cannot think of any way such a spur<br />

could be produced, altho it is not 100% impossible. Has anyone else heard<br />

it?<br />

Pope's visit to USA. 10/S9 on peaks with fading. Great signal for listed<br />

10 kW<br />

BANGLADESH I think the megawatt transmitter is a replacement for an<br />

existing Russian one. There was evidently an RFQ or Ten<strong>der</strong> request last<br />

summer, because one of the vendors asked us to look at some aspects of the<br />

antenna system, and it is a Russian one. It is an "AADC-1 with Wave<br />

Impedance of 170 ohms." As it is useable anywhere in the band (like many<br />

Russian designs) I wasn't provided with the frequency, however!<br />

Even the late 1990's Russian transmitters still used high level plate<br />

modulation with Class B modulators and class C RF amplifiers, and even if
