(antenna tuning unit needs tuning and the antenna guy wires need some
final adjustments). Its all slow but sure. The important thing is CFRX
will be back on the air soon.
From the e-mail and web buzz, a lot of people are anxiously waiting for
its return.
Hope you all had a great holiday time and wish you all a Happy and safe
2008. Hopefully this group will be a lot busier too. Cheers!
When CFRX is back on, you can always use this group to post your reception
reports for others to see.
My friend used Google Earth to look at the CFRB site. He knows the CFRX
vertical is west of the transmitter building but it's not clear enough to
make out a small antenna like that. But going from his memory it looks
like it's at
CHAD I've heard it too, no doubt, RNT reactivated on 4905: best 60m
signalby far outside NAm, Dec 26 at 0605-0620, mostly talk in uncertain
language, maybe part Arabic, part French, with bits of music. Nothing
resembling an ID heard. Mauritania might have competed if it were audible
on 4845.
Furthermore the '4905' signal was a smidgin below frequency as others have
reported minus 30-40 Hz or so; while I couldn't be precise to two decimal
places, I could tell it was off, using the YB-400 simply by zeroing the
BFO on WWV, and then stepping from 4905 up and down 1 kHz. The het at 4904
was noticeably lower in pitch than at 4906.
Chad moved from 6165 to 4904.96...97 at nighttime recently. But new 100 kW
tx unit which has been inaugurated in December 2004 by TAIWAN has nothing
to do with old tx of 1990 to 1999 era, which was off frequency approx. 500
Hertz.
New unit erected in Dec 2004 and noted 7120 (earlier varied 7125 in the
nineties too) daytime, and 6165 kHz nighttime, with excellent reports by
Liz Cameron, Gerry Dexter, Vlad Titarev and Finn Krone in late Dec
