Also took a quick look at Bad Kissingen: Wittsmoor list suggests a site
north of the town, between Hausen and Nuedlingen. I could not spot any
mediumwave transmitters (or remains of one) there, but it's still possible
that I overlooked it.
And Bamberg: The given coordinates are just downtown Bamberg. Anyway the
mediumwave transmitter is located inside a military area, as the
terrestrial photos at
clearly show. Also featured there is the 1485 at Ansbach. Another one
shows AFN's FM transmitter at Amberg, mentioning 1107 as well, but I can't
spot any indications for a mediumwave transmitter. Neither is the tower
itself insulated against ground, nor does it carry anything that could be
a mediumwave antenna.
Btw, all this uncertainty also means that the standard "300 watts"
statement for city coverage AFN transmitters is perhaps worth nothing. The
article at
which is the most detailled writing on this matter vaguely indicates "a
few watts" for Bad Kissingen and that Garmisch-Partenkirchen (presumably
shut down during the nineties) was "known for only reaching 3 kms out of
town", indicating flear power, perhaps a two-digits watts figure, as well.
A press report about the opening of AFN Bavaria in 1980 (the studio, of
course the transmitter existed already much earlier) mentioned 250 watts
for 1143, and such a figure appeared for some other AFN transmitters as
well.

AFN Bamberg site ??? 10 53E 49 53N seems wrong.
Located in housing and army area is rather close to Warner Barracks

Auf dem Foto sieht man schoen die Wohnsiedlung mit den roten Daechern und
Gauben, dazu den Sicherheitszaun in der amerikanischen Anlage. Ich kann
aber das Foto des MW Masts und das kleine weisse Senderhaeuschen nicht auf
den GE Adlerflug uebertragen.
re-AFN Ansbach. Erich Bergmann hatte mir im April 2007 die Koordinaten und
auch zwei .jpg Bilder geschickt.
