the origins are not mentioned) I suspect came from/via ORF. Wolf has every
reason to be proud of the unique work they have done in Vienna to preserve
the history of international broadcasting - not just German language
material - the whole lot.
It is one of the most important archiving projects on the planet. It was
my pleasure and honour to work with Wolf in Vienna in 1976, and we later
swapped material and ideas when he hosted KW Panorama and I was running
Media Network. It was a great example of working in the public interest.
ERITREA/ETHIOPIA The homepage obviously mentioned in the 8000-bc belongs
to Tesfa Delina Foundation, which operates a clandestine, VoTD, to
Eritrea, so this may be a (most certainly) Ethiopian relay of this
programme, or another clandestine/ethiopian government psy-op refering to
this... These programmes are not Eritrea, and I suppose that Brian
Alexander's log and other similar ones are not Eritrea, but this one, as
recently I observed it some Hz higher than 8000 also. Also interesting
that 7165 observed for ERI, but it's well possible that also the Ethiopian
Ext. Service is there at 0400+ with another clandestine program to
Eritrea, as observed before.
FAROE ISLANDS Thomson system boost Faroe Islands revamps Akraberg
station.
The Kringvarp Foroya station is situated close to the lighthouse, a famous
landmark since 1909. [caption: nice shot of the lighthouse at land's end,
but no sign of the 531 antenna gh]
The Ministry of Culture of Faroe Islands has awarded Thomson for the
supply of two medium-wave transmitters for its Akraberg Station. The new
equipment will replace the 200 kW tube transmitter delivered by Thomson in
1989, which had been broadcasting the Kringvarp Faroya program on 531 kHz,
but finally broke down in Spring of this year.
"The old transmitter went down due to technical problems. It was
considered, that the best and cheapest solution was to install a new
transmitter. "This will come into temporary use during August, and
installing the new transmitter will be completed during last quarter of
2008," says Hans Andor Johannesen, Head of Technology at Kringvarp Foroya.
Kringvarp Foroya is the broadcasting authority of Faroe Islands. The
transmitters are operated by the Faroese Telecom on behalf of the
Kringvarp Foroya. Akraberg, today uninhabited, is situated on the Suduroy
Island and is the southernmost point of the Faroe Islands. The distance to
the next village is 2 km.
To ensure uninterrupted transmission from the totally unmanned Akraberg
station, Kringvarp Faroya opted to purchase 2 transmitters: a 100 kW model
(TMW 2100D) as standard and a 50 kW model (TMW 2050D) as passive reserve.
