Abraham Lincoln said, "In the end, it's not the years in your life that<br />

count, but the life in your years." This statement is absolutely true when<br />

we talk about the transmitters at TWR-Swaziland - the three short wave<br />

transmitters in Swaziland are heavily utilised with a total broadcast of<br />

approximately 1000 hours per month (this compares with almost the same<br />

broadcast activity per month put out by five transmitters on the island of<br />

Guam in Asia.)<br />

TWR decided to replace an old Continental 100Kw transmitter (which was 35<br />

years old) with a new HC100 model and in the process, revamp the<br />

transmitter building to create a better environment for the transmitters<br />

to operate.<br />

The new transmitter, which was designed and built in Elkhart, Indiana, is<br />

a lot more efficient than the old Continental and will fit into TWR's<br />

remote monitoring system. All three short wave transmitters are now HC100<br />

models which suggests that it will give TWR good flexibility in the
