A tiny carrier on 15345.07 kHz, maybe RAE Buenos Aires on Whitsun holiday
broadcast? Or an unwanted spur of something else?
[later] 15340 RTM via Nador now on the air, noted at 1150 UT. So schedule
is 1100-1500 UT ? At Stuttgart S=4-6 with deep fades, Briech was always
S=9+20-30dB powerhouse.
The station had previously a warm-up start from 0845/0850 UT, so is still
a puzzle, I'll check the 10 to 11 UT slot tomorrow. Acc to Noel's check I
guess switch-on time at Nador is about 1045 UT warm-up now ?
Lobe / Side-lobe / backside-lobe.
Official data says 110 degr from Nador, and from Briech 27degr previously.
Nador 110 degr signal cross towards CeALG, southernmost point of TUN,
Libya, border region SDN/EGY, Djibouti, YEM, SOM, latter 6500 kms
distance. see attached image.
Briech 27 degr was towards Toulouse, LUX/Frankfurt, Hamburg, Copenhagen,
Stockholm.
Nador-Berlin is 30 degr, is a right angle, or let's say a "DEAD" sector.
Nador-Blackpool 359 degr, so Noel gets a more or less backside-lobe
signal.
15340 Log of Mauno Ritola-FIN on May 13 says 0930 UT on air. So, start
time at Nador is irregular. (wb)
MYANMAR Myanmar has recently taken an additional transmitter into
operation on 5915 kHz, but all transmissions have been off since the
cyclone hitting Yangon area on 4th May, now returning on limited schedule.
(WRTHmonitor May 8 via dxld)
Myanmar back on limited SW operation. Heard yesterday May 8th 0755-0900 UT
s.off, nothing after that. This morning 0030 UT on 7185 kHz in progress.
[later] QSL Mauno. They s.on at 1200 and off at 1400, nothing on 5040,
5915 and strangely on 5770 which wasn't affected by the Cyclone. Today
9730 mid day transmission s.off at 0800, yesterday it was 0900 UT. I
presume they come on as and when they can spare power.
Myanmar doesn't permit Amateur Radio. Such a pity, hams could have done a
wonderful amount of work. No network congestion and simple operations,
does the work that commercial operators can't for the first few days at
least when all else fails.
(Victor Goonetilleke-CLN 4S7VK, DXplorer May 9)
Lately noted on 5040, 5915, 5985, 7185, and 9731.
Yes Victor, extremely weak signal noted also here in Finland now just
before 1400 on 5985.06 kHz. Nothing on 5040 or 5770 kHz.
(Mauno Ritola-FIN, DXplorer May 9)
Yes, noted 5770 kHz here at 1507 UT tune in until s/off around 1530 UT.
5985 kHz station played mostly local songs at the same time (1507 UT). At
around 1530 UT I guess they started English news and after that around
1542 UT the usual western pop songs, starting with "Nothing's gonna change
my love for you".
