CHINA Does Radio Exterior de Espana at 1200-1400 UT on 11910 kHz still
relay from Beijing? There is no signal these days, I turn to it in
Tianjin. Lenfant Lee Please pay a visit my QSL album at

(Li Meng-CHN, dxld Jan 24)
Still scheduled, but couldn't be heard on Jan 25 in Europe, wb.
COSTA RICA Found the 5954 kHz mystery station on the air before 2300 UT,
their usual sign on time, again playing Mexican group Mana, but they were
off by 2315 UT. Might be they started testings earlier this Friday 18.
What is not a mystery is that the station is Costa Rica soil, most likely
Central Valley. I phoned again today an executive friend at Control
Nacional de Radio, but he wasn't around, reason why I don't have late
minute info.
5954v Terry, Few chances you've got any signals the last couple of days,
as that one you call Radio Casinublica has been absent on 5954. Apart from
that, I noticed they signed off at unusual 2315, instead of 2400. I
reported last Friday found them on the air before 2300. So they must have
been "testing" for nearly an hour in advance.
(Raul Saavedra-CTR, dxld Jan 23)
5954 is testing with a 40 kW ELCOR transmitter from Guapiles, Canton de
Pococi, as I got word from Jorge Cuadra, a former Elcor engineer, who
helped install it as a free lancer. Still unknown organization I hope to
discover soon.
CUBA Checking Jan 20 for the debut of RHC's Euro service: at 2020 UT
check, 11750 quite weak in Portuguese, so guess it is really aimed off
some 90 degrees from OK. Also same in Spanish at 2110 UT. By then much
stronger secret English broadcast was still running on 11760 // as usual
much weaker 9505 kHz.
(Glenn Hauser-OK-USA, dxld Jan 20)
Checked the new RHC 11760 kHz test frequency for the first time tonight.
But unfortunatelly we suffer very LOUSY condition tonight.
Also the regional PLC interference covers the 5030 to 13935 kHz range here
in Germany, an anoying BUZZ occurs every 30-31 kHz like a garden fence.
One of these BUZZ sounds 'seats' right on 11760 and covers the RHC signal
totally.
CYPRUS 990 and 1233 MW. With their antenna pattern of 205 degrees the
RMC Doualiya and TWR signals are radiating much better into Uganda of
course, as they do towards Northern Europe. In the morning hours the
signal is even better than the one from KBC Marsabit which is situated
about 450 km north-east of Kampala. The TWR programmes are aired during
the time spans listed in the WRTH. They have a website which is
and the email-address is

DJIBOUTI Since the agreement made with the US government concerning the
R Sawa braodcasts from this little country, the usage of 1170 MW was
stopped - a good decision because 1170 is blocked from the Sawa station in
Al-Dhabbiya / UAE all day long anyway nowadays. The broadcasts are aired
in Arabic on 1116 MW in // to 4780 kHz. When signing on at 0300 there is
Quran in // with 1539 MW which afterwards has Afar programme.
