5770 Defence Forces Broadcasting Network.
"Defence Forces Broadcasting Network noted on 5770 at 1130-1630
(WRTH 2008 lists as from 1330)." - Jose Jacob.
I have checked the sign off time of the Burmese station on 5770 and
confirm it as 1530 (NOT 1630 as reported by me earlier). Very sorry for
the error. About the Burmese stations I have observed that at 2300 UT sign
on, 594 is fraction of a second later than 576 and 5986 kHz.
(Jose Jacob-IND, VU2JOS dxld Feb 22)
Hi Jose, Sign-off at 1630? Several people, myself included, have
consistently observed the sign-off at about 1530 UTC (within a minute or
two), since their return in Oct, 2007. It's good to know about the 1130
sign-on, as they seemed to be on before 1200, but I was not sure of the
exact sign-on time.
Thank you for your observations from an interesting location.
PAKISTAN Pushto broadcast of Radio Pakistan external service was
monitored today from 1313 to 1355 UT at 5050 kHz. It was heard for the
first time on the new frequency. Earlier when the frequency 5050 was
monitored on 11.02.2008 the broadcast of R. Pakistan News Channel was
being relayed due to some technical omission. The program content on
12.02.08 were news bulletin, news comment and Pushto music. Although the
duration of program has been increased by fifteen minutes w.e.f. Jan 05,
2008, it has resulted in increase in more time for music. The audio was
poor, announcer's voice was muffled, Pushto songs could be understood with
some difficulty owing to howling of the transmitter. SINPO rating was
23221. Feb 12, 2008.
5050 at 1320-1349 UT, Radio Pakistan Pushto service was monitored today.
The audio was distorted, transmitter howl very loud. The program content
was news in Pushto at 1325 UT followed by news comment on elections
results. During the broadcast, Pusthto songs were also played. Urdu
transmission of world service of R. Pakistan was being heard
simultaneously in the background due to some tech error. Absence of female
broadcaster has been noticed in Pushto Service. Since Pushto is a native
language, it would not have been difficult to find female Pushto speakers
in Islamabad. Perhaps R. Pakistan wants to please Taliban and Usama Bin
Laden.
PAPUA NEW GUINEA Quite a strong signal from Radio Light on 7325 kHz
today with a relay of the News from NBC Port Moresby, 0900-0910 UTC.
However there was an annoying Firedrake racket on 7330 kHz causing some
grief.
After the NBC News, there was an announcement saying that there would be
no local voices on the station for two weeks beginning (I think) on 18
