<strong>in</strong> <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> History and Military Affairs. Among numerous works on nonmilitary<br />

history, he has published Louisiana: A Bicentennial History and<br />

Eat<strong>in</strong>g, Dr<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g, and Visit<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> South: An Informal History.<br />

KENNETH R. WHITING, retired Chief <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Documentary<br />

Research Division, Center <strong>of</strong> Aerospace Doctr<strong>in</strong>e, Research and Education,<br />

at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Air</strong> University, is a renowned Sovietologist. He received his<br />

Ph.D. <strong>in</strong> Russian history from Harvard University <strong>in</strong> 1951 and has contributed<br />

numerous articles and studies on Soviet and Ch<strong>in</strong>ese affairs to a variety<br />
