POWERHOUSE SBORTFIMFESTIVAL FORTHE PUROSE OF A SHORT
FILM FESTIVAL

WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of Section 296-7 i 'and 296-72, a street may be temporarily closed
WHEREAS, the Division of Engineering, Traffc &.Transporttion has received an application from the IC
Powerhouse Short Film Festival to close both First Street from Marn Boulevard to Provost Street and Provost Street from
Bay Street to Second Street beginning 10:00 a.m. and ending 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 through Sunday, .
. October 2, 2011 for the purpose of a short fim festival; and
for a block par or àny recreational event to be conducted within an area not exceeding one city block under certin
conditions;
WHEREAS, when one or more of the. required conditions for a street closing are not met, in accordance with
Sections 296-74 (B) the Traffc Engineer may recommend to the City Council that one or more of the requirements of
Sections 296-71, 296-72 and 296-73 be waived; and
WIlREAS, the request to close both First Street and Provost Street does not meet one or more of the
requirements set forth in Section 296-71(A)(B)(C)(D);296~72(B)(2)(8) and 296-73(D) as the application for the street.

permittèd; and
WHEREAS, the closing of the aforementioned streets wil not affect public safety or convenience, and in
accordance with the provision of Section 296-74 (B) .the applicant has made a request to the City Council that the
aforementioned requiremt¡nts set fort in Section 296-71, 296-72 and 296-73 be waived.
NOW THEREFORE is IT RESOL \TD, that the Municipal Council via adoption of this resolution authorizes
the closing of both First Street from Marin Boulevard to Provost Street and Provost Street from Bay Street to Second
Street beginning 10:00 a.m. and ending 8:00 p.m. Friday; September30, 2011 through Sunday, October 2, 2011 for a
short film festivaL. .
