RESOLUTION AUTllORIZING AN EXTENSION OF A CONTRACT ON AMON H-
MONTH BASIS WITH FINCH FUEL OIL CO. FOR THE FURNISHING AND DEL
DIESEL FUEL TO VARIOUS LOCA nONS

OFFERED AND MOVED ADOPlION
WHEREAS, Resolution 08-568 approved on July 16,2008 awarded a one (I) year contract in the amount of
$450,749.00 to Finch Fuel Oil Co., 648 Schuyler Avemie, Kearny, New Jersey 07032, for furnishing and delivering
diesel fuel to the City of Jersey City (City); and
WHEREAS, the contract was for a one year tenn beginning on July 1, 2008 and ending on June 31), JO9; and
WHEREAS, the bid specifications included an option to extend the contract with the same tenns and conditions for
two (2) one (I)year periods at the request ofthe City in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:1J-15; and
WHEREAS, the City exercised the two options periods: (l) the first option cÜ;l1meneed on July J, 2009 and
tellUiiiated on June 30, 2010; (2) the second òption commenced on luiy J, 2010 and tenninated on June 30. 20! i;
and
WHEREAS, the City is in the process of revising bid specifications for furnishing and delivering diesel fuel to
various locations and expects to receive bids by September 201 I; and
WHEREAS, N.J.S A.AOA: I I -is authorizes the extension of a contract when a municipality has commenced
rebidding prior to the time tbe cant Tact expires; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to extend the.contract with Finch Fuel ona month-tocmonth basis not to exceed three (3)
monihs effective as of July 1,2011 and ending on September 30, 201 I while the City completes the bidding pre.cess
for a iiew contract; and

NOW,. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Municipal Council of the City fo Jersey City that:
1. The Mayor or Business Administrtor is authorized tò extendt!ie contract with Finch Fuel Oil Co. for
furnishing and delivering diesel fuel to various locations.
2. The contract wil be extended on a nionth~to-month basis not to exceed thee (3) months eftèctiw as of July
1,2011 and ending on. September 3 1,201 I.
