To fud the <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> Police Deparent with the ficial support from the U.S.<br />

Deparent of Justice's Bulletproof Vest Parership Progr to purchase body aror.<br />

4. Reasons (Need) for the Proposed Program,. Project, etc.:<br />

There is a need to replace police offcers' body anor every five years.<br />

5. Anticipated Benefits to the Community:<br />

Equipping police offcers with body anor increases offcer safety and saves lives while<br />

serving the communty.<br />

6. . Cost of Proposed Program Project, etc. (Idicate the dollar amount of <strong>City</strong>, State and<br />

Fedèra Funds to be used, as well as match and in-kid contrbutions.):<br />

The program wil reimburse 50% of the <strong>City</strong>'s purchases of body armor. The<br />

remaining 50% wil be funded through the State's Body Armor Replacement<br />

Program. Permission has been authorized by both Federal and State Grantors to<br />

do so. However, BVP has also allowed agencies who have experienced a fiancial<br />

hardship the option of waiving this match as long as documentation is provided by<br />

the highest city offcial at the time of the reimbursement request. Total award for<br />

BVP 2011 wil be determined upon the review of this application.<br />
