TITLE: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CLOSING OF A MUNI P
STREET(S), OGDEN A VENUE FROM GRIFFITH STREET TO BOW
STREET BEGINNING 9:00 A.M. AND ENDING 5:00 P.M. SATURDA ,
SEPTEMBER 17, 2011, RAIN DATE: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2011,
AT THE REQUEST O~ THE RIVERVIEW NEIGHBORHOOD
ASSOCIATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF 25th ANNUAL RNA PAR
FESTIVAL AND FLEA MAT
WHEREAS, the Division of Engieerig, Traffc and Transportation has received an
application from the Riverview Neighborhood Association to close Ogden Avenue from Griffith
Street to Bowers Street beginnng 9:00 a.m. and ending 5:00 p.m. Satuday, September 17,2011,
rain date: Sunday, September 18, 2011 for the purose of the 25th anua RNA park festival and
flea market; .and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of Section 296-7l and 296-72, a street
may be temporarily closed for a block party or any recreational event to be conducted within an
area not exceeding one city block under certain conditions;
WHEREAS, when one or more of the required conditions for a street closing are not
met, in accordance with Sections 296"74 (B) the Traffic Engineer may recommend to the City.
Council that one or more of the requirements of Section 296-71, 296-72 and 296-73 be waived;
and
WHREAS, the request to close Ogden Avenue does not meet one or more of the
requirements set forth in Section 296-71 (B)(C)(D), 296-72(B)(2)(8) and 296-73(D) as the street
closing was submitted by a non-resident and will sta earlier than is permitted; and
WHEREAS, the closing of the aforementioned street wiU not affect public safety or
convenience, and in accordance with the provision of Section 296-74 (B) and the applicant has
made a request to the City Council that. the aforementioned requirements set forth in Section
3 96~ 71, 296-72 and 296-73 be waived.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Muncipal Council via adoption of
this resolution authorizes the closing of Ogden Avenue from Griffth Street to Bowers Street
beginning 9:0 and ending 5:00 p.m. Satuday, September 17, 20ll rain date: Sunday,
September 18, .
