Offered and moved adoption of
WHREAS, the natue of police work creates a dager to the members of the Jersey City Police
Deparent; and
WHREAS, the U.S. Deparent of Justice has recognzed this danger; and
WHREAS, the U.S. Deparent of Jusice, though the Buletproof Vest Parership Program
normally reimburses 50 percent of the tota cost of eah vest purchased by the City of Jersey
City; but has given jursdictions the option to request a waiver of ths match requiement durng
the reimburement stage of the grt to jursdictions who can provide documentation of a
financial hardship; and
WHREAS, the total award for the Bulletproof Vest Parership (2011) will be determined after
the review of our electronically subnutted application; and
WHREAS, the City of Jersey City wishes to apply for these funds distrbuted though the
Buletproof Vest Parership Program to protect its Police Offcers; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Muncipal Council of the City of Jersey City
that:
1. The Jersey City Police Deparent is hereby authoried to apply for fuds distrbuted by
the U.S. Deparent of Justice though the Bulletproof Vest Parership Progr and
2. These fuds will be used to provide personal body aror for sworn members of the
Jersey City Police Deparent.
