7.2 Additional Acquirer Obligations and Activities for Acquiring Transactions from a Merchant—POS and<br />

Electronic Commerce Only<br />

At attended POS Terminals that require the cardholder to choose between<br />

“YES” and “NO,” the Merchant must verbally explain the offer to the Cardholder<br />

before presenting it on the POS Terminal.<br />

If the Cardholder chooses currency conversion by the Corporation, the Acquirer<br />

must present the Transaction for clearing in the currency in which goods,<br />

services, or both, were priced or in the currency that was dispensed to the<br />

Cardholder.<br />

The same currency conversion method must be used for a refund as was used<br />

for the corresponding purchase Transaction.<br />

7.2 Additional Acquirer Obligations and Activities for<br />

Acquiring Transactions from a Merchant—POS and<br />

Electronic Commerce Only<br />

In addition to the requirements documented in Rule 7.1, on an ongoing basis,<br />

each Acquirer must:<br />

1. ensure that each of its Merchants is provided with all materials necessary<br />

to effect Transactions in accordance with the Standards, and to signify<br />

Card acceptance. These materials may include POS Terminals, PIN pads,<br />

advertising displays, Merchant decals, and other Point-of-Interaction<br />

promotional materials bearing the Marks;<br />

2. monitor its Merchants’ compliance with the <strong>Rules</strong> and technical<br />

specifications of the Corporation, including checking for and testing out<br />

Merchant contact details. If requested by the Corporation, the Acquirer<br />

must take any action that may be necessary or appropriate to ensure the<br />

Merchant’s compliance with the <strong>Rules</strong>. This action may include terminating<br />

Merchants whose practices pose a risk to the Interchange System;<br />

3. acquire all Transactions properly presented to it from each of its Merchants<br />

on such terms as set forth in the Merchant Agreement between them;<br />
