9.2 POS Transaction Types<br />

If proper disclosure is not made at the time of the Transaction and any<br />

merchandise is accepted for return or any services are terminated or cancelled,<br />

or any price adjustment is allowed by the Merchant, the Merchant is allowed to<br />

make a cash refund to the Cardholder, or the Merchant must process an on-line<br />

credit Transaction to the Issuer, and provide the Cardholder a credit receipt<br />

evidencing such refund or adjustment. The Merchant must sign and date each<br />

credit receipt and must include thereon a brief identification of the merchandise<br />

returned, services cancelled or adjustment made and the amount of the credit in<br />

sufficient detail to identify the Transaction.<br />

9.2 POS Transaction Types<br />

9.2.1 Issuer Online POS Transactions<br />

In addition to the <strong>Rules</strong> in Chapter 9, “Processing Requirements,” Rule 9.2.1 in<br />

part 1 of this rulebook, the following applies:<br />

11. balance inquiry.<br />

9.2.2 Acquirer Online POS Transactions<br />

9.2.2.1 Required Transactions<br />

The following replaces Chapter 9, “Processing Requirements,” Rule 9.2.2.1<br />

(1) in part 1 of this rulebook:<br />

1. Purchase from primary account. (Purchase from account selection from<br />

checking and savings account is optional).<br />

9.2.2.2 Optional Online POS Transactions<br />

The following replaces Chapter 9, “Processing Requirements,” paragraph 4 of<br />

Rule 9.2.2.2 (1.d) in part 1 of this rulebook:<br />

Acquirers are not liable for pre-authorization completions that occurred within<br />

twenty (20) minutes of the initial Transaction that were stored and forwarded<br />

because of technical problems between the Interchange System and the Issuer.<br />
