A credit <strong>MasterCard</strong> card may be enhanced with the <strong>Maestro</strong> payment<br />

Access Devices and Mobile Payment Devices<br />

Effective 18 October 2013, an Issuer must ensure that each newly issued or<br />

reissued PayPass-enabled Card, Access Device, and Mobile Payment Device is<br />

personalized with the appropriate device type value.<br />

6.2.3 Chip Card Standards >><br />

The <strong>Rules</strong> in Chapter 6, “Issuing,” Rule 6.2.3 in part 1 of this rulebook are<br />

modified to include the following:<br />

No payment application resident on a Chip Card issued in the U.S. region may<br />

have a higher application priority than the Card’s primary application.<br />

6.2.3.3 Card Authentication >><br />

The <strong>Rules</strong> in Chapter 6, “Issuing,” Rule 6.2.3.3 in part 1 of this rulebook are<br />

modified as follows:<br />

Any Chip Card issued or re-issued in the United States region:<br />

1. May be configured to always require a POS Terminal to obtain online<br />

authorization from the Issuer for a contact chip Transaction. Such Cards are<br />

not required to support offline CAM for chip Transactions.<br />

2. If configured to support offline authorization must support DDA or both<br />

DDA and CDA as the offline CAM(s) for contact chip Transactions and<br />

must not support SDA.<br />

Any <strong>Maestro</strong> PayPass Card issued or re-issued in the United States region:<br />

1. Must be configured to support both online and offline authorization of<br />

<strong>Maestro</strong> PayPass Transactions; and<br />

2. Must support CDA as the offline CAM for <strong>Maestro</strong> PayPass Transactions<br />

and must not support SDA.<br />
