7.2.4 Additional Acquiring Requirements<br />

7.2.4.1 Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Transactions<br />

Effective 1 January 2011, Merchants located in India may at their option offer<br />

IVR Transactions on Cards issued in India.<br />

The <strong>Rules</strong> for IVR Transactions are the same as those for face-to-face POS<br />

Transactions except that:<br />

1. IVR Transactions must not be performed using <strong>Maestro</strong> PayPass contactless<br />

payment functionality or include purchase with cashback Transactions;<br />

2. manual key entry of the PAN is the normal method of performing an IVR<br />

Transaction;<br />

3. the Merchant must support the passing of the data in UCAF to the Acquirer.<br />

4. An Acquirer must provide each Merchant with a Merchant ID, and ensure<br />

that its Merchants correctly populate all UCAF fields with required data<br />

elements.<br />

5. a zero floor limit is applicable for all IVR Transactions;<br />

6. if an Issuer’s response to an authorization request is incorrectly supplied as<br />

call referral, this must be translated into a decline;<br />

7. the Merchant must not request an authorization until the goods or services<br />

are ready to be dispatched;<br />

8. the Transaction receipt and the goods and/or services are not provided<br />

to the Cardholder upon completion of the Transaction, but rather are<br />

delivered to the Cardholder by a method chosen at the Merchant’s<br />

discretion or collected by the Cardholder. Refer to the <strong>MasterCard</strong><br />

SecureCode—Merchant Implementation Guide for more information.<br />

In addition to the <strong>Rules</strong> in Chapter 7, “Acquiring Requirements,” Rule 7.4.1<br />

in part 1 of this rulebook, with respect to intracountry electronic commerce<br />

Transactions that take place in India:<br />

8. process refunds as Payment Transactions.<br />
