1.7 Termination of License<br />

Marks<br />

In Brazil, the term “Marks” means the <strong>MasterCard</strong> and <strong>Maestro</strong> names, logos,<br />

trade names, logotypes, trademarks, service marks, trade designations, and<br />

other designations, symbols, and marks that <strong>MasterCard</strong> International Inc.,<br />

<strong>MasterCard</strong> International Incorporated and/or their affiliates or subsidiaries<br />

own, manage, license, or otherwise Control and make available for use by<br />

Customers and other authorized entities in accordance with a License. The<br />

<strong>MasterCard</strong> Mark must be accompanied by the proprietary “débito” graphic<br />

identifier on all Cards in accordance with the Identity Standards. A “Mark”<br />

means anyone of the Marks.<br />

1.7 Termination of License<br />

1.7.4 Liabilities and Obligations Following Termination<br />

The following replaces Chapter 1, “Participation,” Rule 1.7.4 (1) and (6) in<br />

part 1 of this rulebook.<br />

Subject to the limitations set forth in the <strong>Rules</strong>, a terminated Customer may<br />

continue to assert any right accorded a Customer set forth in the <strong>Rules</strong>, and<br />

remain libel as a Customer to the Corporation and to its Customers for any<br />

matter occurring before the termination of its License.<br />

4.1 Right to Use the Marks<br />

In addition to the <strong>Rules</strong> in Chapter 4, “Marks,” Rule 4.1, in part 1 of this<br />

rulebook, the following applies:<br />

In Brazil, effective 1 January 2011, Customers that allow any of their Cardbases<br />

access to the Corporation must issue Card in compliance with the <strong>MasterCard</strong><br />

“débito” Identity Standards and must be in full compliance by 1 February 2016.<br />

In addition, when Customers use the <strong>MasterCard</strong> Mark accompanied by<br />

the proprietary “débito” graphic identifier, it must be as a stand-alone,<br />

domestic-use-only brand in compliance with the Identity Standards.<br />

4.2 Protection and Registration of the Marks<br />

In addition to the <strong>Rules</strong> in Chapter 4, “Marks,” Rule 4.2, in part 1 of this<br />

rulebook, the following applies:<br />

In Brazil, Customers must comply with the requirements set forth in Chapter 4,<br />

Trademarks and Service Marks, of the <strong>MasterCard</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> with regard to use of<br />

the <strong>MasterCard</strong> Marks.<br />

The following applies to Cards issued in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands:<br />
