7.17 Connection to the Interchange System<br />

If a Customer, Service Provider, or Intermediate Network Facility (INF) makes<br />

a change to the software related to processing Transactions, the Corporation<br />

must be advised of that change. Based on that information, the Corporation<br />

will determine whether re-certification is appropriate.<br />

For certification information, refer to the technical specifications.<br />

7.17.4 Data Processing Facilities<br />

A Principal has the right to connect at least one data processing facility directly<br />

to the Interchange System, or to a similar facility, which is owned or designated<br />

for such purpose by <strong>MasterCard</strong>.<br />

A Principal must establish and maintain at their own expense a data processing<br />

facility that is capable of receiving, storing, processing, and communicating any<br />

Transaction sent to, or received from the Interchange System.<br />

A Principal’s data processing facility may be established and maintained by<br />

its parent, a wholly-owned subsidiary of such Principal, or any other affiliate<br />

of such Principal which is wholly owned, directly or indirectly, by the same<br />

parent as such Principal.<br />

Alternatively, a Principal may designate a third party agent to establish and<br />

maintain its data processing facility provided that such agent is approved in<br />

advance by the Corporation and that such agent enters into an agreement with<br />

the Corporation, the form and substance of which have been approved by<br />

the Corporation.<br />

7.17.5 Telecommunications<br />

Customers must connect to the Interchange System via a telecommunications<br />

circuit established by the Interchange System equipped with backup service.<br />

All circuits must comply with the applicable technical specifications.<br />

7.17.6 Interface<br />

Customers must develop and maintain the necessary computer hardware and<br />

software to interface with the Interchange System in accordance with the<br />

technical specifications and the <strong>Rules</strong>.<br />
