9.4 Special Transaction Types<br />

Special Transaction processing requirements apply to the types of Transactions<br />

listed in this section.<br />

They must be processed with the specific merchant category codes (MCC)<br />

indicated.<br />

POS Special Transactions must not be effected using <strong>Maestro</strong> PayPass.<br />

9.4.1 Processing Requirements—POS Unique Transaction Types<br />

Cardholder entered PINs are required for the POS Transaction types outlined<br />

in this Rule that are conducted in the face-to-face environment. <strong>MasterCard</strong><br />

SecureCode must be utilized as the CVM for quasi cash and gambling<br />

Transactions conducted through the Internet.<br />

Waivers granted regarding the acceptance of Transactions using signature rather<br />

than PIN are not applicable to the following Transaction types:<br />

1. Money Transfer—Merchant (MCC 4829)<br />

This MCC will be renamed Money Transfer effective with Release 12.Q4.<br />

A Transaction in which funds are delivered or made available to person(s),<br />

other than the Cardholder initiating the money transfer at a location<br />

other than the location at which the money transfer is initiated. These<br />

Transactions include non–face-to-face Transactions, such as those facilitated<br />

through the Internet. Any fee charged for this Transaction and included in<br />

the total Transaction amount must be clearly disclosed to the Cardholder<br />

in advance of completing the Transaction. Customers must include the<br />

identity and location of the money transfer agent that accepts the Card<br />

and effects the Transaction in the card descriptor record as the site where<br />

the Transaction was effected.<br />

2. Money Transfer—Member Financial Institution (MCC 6534)<br />

This MCC will be deleted effective with Release 12.Q4.<br />

A Transaction in which funds are delivered or made available to person(s)<br />

other than the Cardholder initiating the money transfer, at a location<br />

other than the Customer location at which the money transfer is initiated.<br />

Transactions include non–face-to-face Transactions, such as those facilitated<br />

through the Internet. Any fee charged and included in the total Transaction<br />

amount must be clearly disclosed to the Cardholder in advance of<br />

completing the Transaction.<br />
