Gateway Transaction<br />

Any ATM transaction processed through or using the Gateway Switch.<br />

Hybrid Terminal >><br />

A Terminal that:<br />

1. is capable of processing both chip Transactions and magnetic stripe Transactions;<br />

2. has the equivalent hardware, software, and configuration as a Terminal with full EMV Level 1<br />

and Level 2 type approval status with regard to the chip technical specifications; and<br />

3. has satisfactorily completed the Corporation’s Terminal Integration Process (TIP) in the<br />

appropriate environment of use.<br />

Hybrid POS Terminal >><br />

A POS Terminal that:<br />

1. is capable of processing both chip Transactions and magnetic stripe Transactions;<br />

2. has the equivalent hardware, software, and configuration as a POS Terminal with full EMV<br />

Level 1 and Level 2 type approval status with regard to the chip technical specifications; and<br />

3. has satisfactorily completed the Corporation’s Terminal Integration Process (TIP) in the<br />

appropriate environment of use.<br />

Identity Standards<br />

The visual graphics requirements adopted by the Corporation and revised from time to time, which<br />

define the correct use of the Marks on all surfaces and mediums.<br />

Independent Sales Organization (ISO)<br />

A Service Provider that performs any one or more of the services described in Rule 14.1 of this<br />

rulebook as ISO Program Service.<br />

Interchange System<br />

The computer hardware and software operated by and on behalf of the Corporation for the<br />

routing, processing, and settlement of Transactions including, without limitation, the <strong>MasterCard</strong><br />

Worldwide Network, the Regional Service Centre [RSC], the <strong>Global</strong> Clearing Management System<br />

(GCMS), and the Settlement Account Management (SAM).<br />

Interchange System Business Day<br />

The period of processing time from cutover to cutover.<br />

Intermediate network facility (INF)<br />

Any message-processing entity positioned between the Acquirer of a Transaction and the Issuer,<br />

including a Service Provider and the Interchange System.<br />
