6.4 PIN and Signature Requirements<br />

Effective 1 October 2010, an Issuer of Cards that do not support both magnetic<br />

stripe and EMV chip technology must have an EMV migration project registered<br />

with <strong>MasterCard</strong> Customer Implementation Services.<br />

Effective 1 January 2011, Cards must support both magnetic stripe and EMV<br />

chip technology. As an exception to the preceding rule, nonreloadable prepaid<br />

cards are not required to support EMV chip technology.<br />

6.4 PIN and Signature Requirements<br />

6.4.3 Use of PIN or Signature<br />

In addition to Rule 6.4.3 of Chapter 17, the following rule applies within SEPA:<br />

Intra-SEPA Transactions must be completed using PIN as the CVM.<br />

7.10 Hybrid POS Terminal and Hybrid Terminal<br />

Requirements<br />

In addition to Rule 7.10 of Chapter 17, the following Rule applies within SEPA:<br />

Effective 1 October 2010, an Acquirer with any Terminals or POS Terminals<br />

deployed that do not support both magnetic stripe and EMV chip technology<br />

must have an EMV migration project registered with <strong>MasterCard</strong> Customer<br />

Implementation Services.<br />

Effective 1 January 2011, POS Terminals and Terminals must support both<br />

magnetic stripe and EMV chip technology.<br />

NOTE<br />

POS Terminals in the Netherlands are not required to support EMV chip<br />

technology until 2013. An EMV migration plan for such POS Terminals is not<br />

required until 1 October 2012.<br />

7.17 Connection to Interchange System<br />

Each Participant must at all times accept all Cards at all ATMs owned or<br />

established by that Participant (including its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and<br />

sponsored entities) if it accepts cards issued under other acceptance brands at<br />

those ATMs.<br />
