4.2 Protection and Registration of the Marks<br />

In addition to the <strong>Rules</strong> in Chapter 4, “Marks,” Rule 4.2 the following applies:<br />

No use of a Mark may be made on or in connection with any card, device or<br />

other application associated with a payment service that the Corporation deems<br />

to be competitive with any Activity except as set forth in this chapter.<br />

The following replaces the second paragraph of Chapter 4, “Marks,” Rule 4.5 in<br />

part 1 of this rulebook:<br />

The Marks may be placed on a card in combination with any other<br />

local/regional/international POS debit mark and/or local/international ATM<br />

mark. In the event that a card has an international POS debit mark on the card<br />

front, and the card has a <strong>Maestro</strong> payment application:<br />

1. if any other POS debit mark appears on the card back, the Marks must<br />

be displayed on the card back; or<br />

2. if no other POS debit mark appears on the card back, the Marks are not<br />

required to appear on the card back.<br />

A card must not include any visible indication communicating that acceptance >><br />

or use of the Mark or the <strong>Maestro</strong> payment application is limited, geographically<br />

or otherwise.<br />

The fifth paragraph of Chapter 4, “Marks,” Rule 4.5 in part 1 of this rulebook in<br />

which Customers are prohibited from placing any other Competing EFT POS<br />

Network debit marks on their participating Cards does not apply.<br />

4.6 Display of the Marks at POI Terminals<br />

6.1 Eligibility<br />

In addition to the <strong>Rules</strong> in Chapter 4, “Marks,” Rule 4.6 in part 1 of this<br />

rulebook, the following applies:<br />

The Marks may appear in conjunction with other regional or national network<br />

EFT Marks on devices that qualify as POS Terminals and Terminals.<br />

6.1.1 Eligible Cards >><br />

The <strong>Rules</strong> set forth in Chapter 6, “Issuing,” Rule 6.1.1 in part 1 of this rulebook<br />

are modified as set forth below.<br />
